Help finding nursery schools in Nassau County

Can anyone give me any suggestions for Nursery Schools on the South Shore (Oceanside, Merrick, Rockville Centre, etc.) My daughter will be 3 next year and 2 places I have called are 4 days/weeks. I was really only looking for 2-3 days. Any help would be great. Thanks!

  • Look for a place that is NAEYC accredited. If it's NAEYC accredited it's more likely to be a higher quality. Also I don't know if they have a local rating system there, but here in VA we have a system called QRIS, the preschools can score between 1 and 5 stars. It's fairly new and none have scored a 5, but I would be happy with 3 or 4 stars.

  • I forgot to ask, do you want a religious preschool, based out of a church or not. The thing to be careful about religious preschools, at least here, is that they don't have to be licensed by the state, they are religious exempt, so you would really want to make sure they have high standards.
