  • its usually around 5-600 after bills are paid for the month. we only put in the checking what we know will be going out. some bills are auto-drafted.(we put $$ into IRAs, life insurance, savings/MM accounts, etc that never touch the checking accout)..and i pay quarterly estimates for my personal self-employment taxes, so some months, the balance is less.
funny, i've always wondered this about people too..but everyone pays bills differently, or gets paid on different schedules, so i'm sure everyone has their own system that works for their family.

  • Not much more than you. That's why it's so important to pay ourselves first by automatic savings withdrawls.

  • Around 10 dollars..The reason being is our medical bills. My son was born 3 months prematurely so we still pay some of those bills AND I had surgery about 2 months ago. If we didnt have any medical bills, I would say around what you mentioned. And yes I am a SAHM but its worth it. All of our bills are paid, grocerys paid for ect.

  • at any given time we have around 8000 in the bank most of it in savings...so i'd say after bills are paid maybe 10,000....we dont make that much each month but we have been able to save some money so that money is always in there...kinda of our emergency fund...

  • Well, we put $6000 into savings every month, so our savings account is up to $63,000. In our checking account we usually always have at least about $6-8000. In a few years, we will finally feel stable.

  • We aim for zero. We try to give every dollar a name and a purpose so that money doesn't sit there and get swindled away. KWIM?
