My husband and I moved from Montana to Georgia when my son was 6 weeks old. The best thing to do IMO is try to break up the trip. My son was young enough that he slept most of the time. But when we travel with him now, we make sure to stop and eat at places with a playground. We also stopped for a few days in the middle of the trip to visit friends and let our son take a break from traveling. Other than that, I would let her out of the car at every stop. Change her diaper, and carry her with you around the lot or convenience store, or let her walk while you hold her hand if she can walk already. Then to help if she gets fussy when you put her back in the car, give her a small snack. On our last trip we kept those collapsible fabric bins in the car full of snacks for all of us. They are exactly the right size to fit in the floorboard in the backseat and hold juice boxes, crackers, etc. Also a portable DVD player is a lifesaver!
