I am a really horrible cook...

But I am really trying to get better about cooking dinner for the family-we normally eat out a lot and I make like boxed dinners night when we are home. We are trying to save money and lose weight, and I really want to start making healthy, cheap and good meals - especially dinner. Do you have any good recipes you could share with me? Very beginner recipes preferably.. Thank you!

  • well something small like bake a whole chicken its so easy base it with salt pepper honey and lemon and let it cook in oven and make a awesome salad! use baby spinach leaves, mixed with iceburg lettuce, add cut up carrots, tomatoes, mushrooms if u like AND adding small onions can make a big difference. umm i would reccomend not adding any toppings bc its healthier not too and if u like nuts u can add nuts to salad. and if u put a salad a day in your diet it helps.. atip i also add cut up granny smith apples in my salad its so good and adds a great taste! GL anything thats baked is alot better for u than fried!

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Combine butter, lemon juice and garlic powder in a bowl. Add 1 tsp oregano, 1 tsp Greek seasoning and salt and pepper to taste. Place chicken in baking dish. Pour butter mixture over chicken. Bake 45-50 minutes, basting occasionally, until chicken is just cooked through. Combine tomatoes and next 9 ingredients in a bowl. Add remaining oregano and Greek seasoning. Season with salt and pepper to taste and mix thoroughly. Place salad greens in a large bowl. Slice chicken into thin strips and arrange on top of salad. Top with tomato-cucumber salsa and sprinkle with feta cheese. Garnish with olives and pepperoncini pepper.

This makes 4 servings, so you get plenty to eat and it is pretty healthy. :)

  • Taco Bake:
Preheat oven to 350. Brown 1 lb ground beef, add 1 can of tomato soup, 2 cups salsa, and 1 cup cheese and stir. Cut 6 large tortillas into bite size pieces and stir into taco mix. Pour entire pan into a 9X13 baking pan, cover with foil, and bake for 30 minutes. You can also add an extra cup of shredded cheese to the top before baking.

Make 4 cups of pasta (about 1/2 a box - your choice on what kind, elbow and rotini both work well), drain and set aside. Brown 1 lb. ground beef. Add 1 can tomato soup, 2 Tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, and 1/4 - 1/2 medium onion finely chopped. Stir in 1-2 cups cheese (depending on how healthy you want to be) and cooked pasta.
