Braxton Hicks- some questions

Can they just feel like a constant ache or do they always feel like tightening/loosening? I'm 37 weeks and dilated already, and engaged. I feel achey a lot but don't really seem to feel "contractioney" so am I having BH that just feel like achiness or what? can you even go right into labor without ever having them at all?

  • Your body will be preparing & practicing whether you notice or not. So you could go into labor without realizing you've been having BH.
So BH will come and go, not remain constant. Can you describe your aches more?

  • (I'm the OP) I just have like either a dull ache or sometimes the slight up and down twinges of period like pain, but not like the tightening thing I hear people talk about. Cause I hear that they feel like real contractions as far as the tightening feeling, just without all the pain. But I just vary from feeling like a pulled muscle or mild menstrual cramps.

  • I've had some wierd BH contractions. The one with my first lasted for about 3 hours. Just 3 hours straight of a hard belly. Really odd. I don't think they need to fit any textbook definition.

  • My BH contractions feel like tightening for sure. It feels like my tummy is being squeezed. It didnt hurt it was just very uncomfortable. Im only 31 weeks so i got a while to go. Some people go into labor with out feeling any contractions at all. So, if i were you i would just enjoy it :) Not to much longer
