Am I a bad person?

Me & my dh do kiss our kids on the lips.. Our ds is 2 & a half our dd is 10 months old. However My Greatgrandmother kisses my kids on the lips. But when it comes down to dh's family I tell them that we dont allow ANYONE to kiss our kids on the mouth...Ok these people are down right nasty. My mil has no teeth both mil & fil have done drugs their whole lives they are alcholics & they always smell of beer & cigarattes pluse they hardley ever shower! I hate to be like this. But mil pissed me off I have told her over 20times that we dont allow that & she still trys to get my ds to kiss his on the lips! Its not like my dh doesnt agree bc he does. They drink from the time they wake up till the time they go to bed. Pluse they are abusive....Dh was not raised by them. My questin is am I being hypocritical?

  • I don't think so. But it sounds like these people should not even be around your kids let alone kissing them on the lips.

  • Not if it puts your children in direct contact with substances that you don't want them to be and your DH agrees so, do what you think is best.

  • I wouldn't want my kids to kiss them on the mouth either. Has you dh tried telling his mother. If he has and they don't stop I would stop taking my kids over there.

  • No, you're protecting your children from having to kiss nasty people!

Your son is getting old enough that he's going to know tha tyou're lying to them, though... he's probably going to out you before too long.

  • No. Just because you kiss your kids on the lips does not give anyone else permission to do so as well! I agree totally with both pp.

  • No i think your right. My husband and I kiss our son on the lips but as far as everyone else is concerned it just doesnt happen. Just because i feel something like that should only be shared with the parents. My sister does drugs and most of the time i wont even let my son hug her. Your just using your protective instincts nothing to feel bad about.

  • The way that they look the could have hepatitis but they could also have aids. They are bone skinny and I cant even explain how horrible these people look.
