When there is a fundraiser, donations or anything to help out the community why is it?...

while this is going on somehow who ever is doing the fundraiser and so on gives out stuff to make more money? Like they sell raffle tickets or sell food for so much money...I mean what is the point for all this fundraising if they have the money to dish out. I don't really understand it?

  • if they are selling plates of food, they are selling them at a substantial increase in price. I recently attended a charity BBQ-- they spent about $300 getting the event going (food, press, plates) but brought in $4000.

The same way a business makes money.

Some charities sell donated items only.

  • I worked a local fund raiser 7 years in a row and will be making a donation this year. In total we usually put about $2000 - $2500 in to it but never brought in less than $30,000 in 6 weeks of fundraising. So, had we simply made the donation, it would have been NOTHING in comparison to what we were able to send.

  • Raffles are often held with donated items. The organization goes to local businesses asking for donations to use in the raffle for the event and then they raffle them.

  • And Generally when you do a Raffle you have stuff to give away and you will actually earn more money than you are giving away. We are doing one right now, and we are definetly earning more than what was for raffle.
