What's a good white wine to use for cooking?

  • Something that you would drink a glass of. Never use something that you wouldn't drink.

  • Usually, dry wines work best. Julia Child always cooked with dry vermouth; I can't stand the stuff. You definitely want to use something drinkable; I usually use an under $10 bottle of Pinot Grigio from Trader Joes.

  • you can substite dry white vermouth that will keep opened or buy some of the little bottles (4-Packs) or a small box that will keep. chardonney, pinot Grigios, skip chablis.
