Anyone have a daughter who just started her period? Emotional effects?

My daughter did and she seems to have a lot of moodiness and crying all of a sudden. Also unwanted negative thoughts. Anybody have experience with this? I don't remember having anything like this myself.

  • She's going through puberty and her hormones are adjusting as she begins her journey in to young woman-hood. Yea, it happens, and the best you can do it talk with her about her feelings.

  • My daughter went through that.....and we all probably did too! When we are emotional we don't realize it--we think we are actually mad about something or upset about something! It is a big adjustment. In addition to the actual hormones and all that havoc, there are the practical aspects the girl has to deal with. It is a very self-conscious time....you are so aware of yourself as you change and you hardly recognize yourself. You are also wondering how you will fit in and how you will turn out...it is a tremendous amount of pressure! So, the practical issues combined with the hormones are a challenge for her and everyone around her.
