symptoms of ear infections?

My son has been tugging at his right ear and will hardly eat anything the last couple days. I have an appointment for him but just wondered if it sounded like an ear infection. He doesn't have a fever but has been crankier than normal. He is almost 10 months old.

  • sounds like teething. tugging at the ear this young doesn't typically mean ear infection.

Is he crankier when onhis back? Laying down puts pressure on the ears and hurts when there's an infection. Can you distract from the pain? If so,it's more likely teething.
