What non-electronic toy or game does your 'tween enjoy most?

With Xmas coming up, any suggestions on toys or games that will be played with and not break within the first 24 hours?

  • Mine love books. But I think a good idea is art supplies. I love when they get creative.

  • Yahtzee, Bingo or some classic board games are always great. Also books like Guiness Book of Records or Almanacs. Lastly, load up at the dollar store and make a kit of art supplies: scissors, glitter, pipe cleaners, ice cream sticks, and so on. What about the Rubik's cube? I think at this age they like things with little pieces that make them feel mature for having to be responsible for something with so many parts. Of course, us parents are the ones to have to reinforce putting everything away :)

  • My son would like books, drawing supplies, trading card games, and board/strategy/card games. Gamewright games are some of our family favorites because they tend to be quick, fun and can be played by multiple ages. We also like several games by SimplyFun.
