Would you rather have an Atheist or a Homosexual babysit your children?

This was a discussion brought up in one of my groups and I'd like to see what everyone here has to say.

  • Why not both?

  • why would it matter either way if they both were decent people like everyone else i evaluate to watch my child. they're beliefs or lifestyles shouldn't influence the decision.

  • I would want someone who is qualified to take care of children to take care of my children. Sexual preference or creed would have no bearing on who i choose to watch my child.

  • I think that/this is an ignorant discussion/question.

  • It wouldn't matter as long as I knew them, trusted them, and they loved our children.

  • As far as beliefs, I have no preference at all. Do they have enough sense to take care of a child? That isn't based on faith or sexuality, just on plain brainpower and willingness to learn. I've met people of all faiths and persuasions who lack those particular qualities.

  • It doesn't matter. I would like a non-smoking , non-drinking babysitter who is kind to kids. that's about it. There's nothing wrong with atheism or gay-ness. All that matters is that they are nice people.

  • Neither of those is really something I think I'd consider if I were looking for a babysitter for my kids. I only leave them with family and/or people I know REALLY REALLY well and trust 100%, so if that person happened to be one of those things it wouldn't have an impact on whether or not I let them watch my kids for me.

  • There apparently was a lot of people who said they would NEVER allow an Atheist to watch their kids and would rather have a gay man do it even though they think he's going against God. They think the sin of gay sex is better than the sin of godlessness.

Why should religion or lack thereof even be a concern in a daycare or babysitting situation?
