Newborn rash??

My lil guy is 8days old & today I noticed little rashes on him...there is a little red splotch on his shoulder & one on his belly (both about the size of a half dollar), both have little tiny bumps in the red area (maybe a dozen & they look kind of like mini-pimples without a whitehead). He doesn't seem effected by them, he's eating & sleeping just fine (BFing), his clothes have all been washed, etc...just curious if this is normal or not...

  • Totally normal, it's just the common "baby acne/rash" I think at one point almost every new baby develops this and it's completely harmless and will go away on it's own without any intervention. (=

  • Well, what detergent did you use? Softener? Don't use Dreft, and don't use softener. Extra rinse on the clothes. Could be any number of things though, even something you ate.

  • well, this common in most newborn baby is called "seborrhea" or Craddle cap. it will go way itself within 2 - 4 weeks.or you can buy hydrocortisone 1% over the counter and it will help the " rash" to go away in couple of days.

  • Most babies has a rash what works really really good is this stuff called BAG BALM it comes in a square green tin, just rub it on his rash.

If your baby ever gets sick you can rub that on the bottom of his feet his chest and some underneath his nose that way it helps them breath and makes them feel better.
