Choroid Plexus Cysts

Did any moms on here have choroid plexus cysts found on their babies brain during a routine ultrasound? Did they go away on their own? Did your baby end up having a chromosonal defect like downs syndrome or trisomy 18?
Please help me ease my mind. Any experiences with your child or a friend or families child having these?

  • 2 out of my 3 kids had these... yes, they are a "soft marker" for a genetic defect, but nothing to worry about unless your quad-screen came back funny. The first time I saw them was with my second child, and he also had something else going on that was another "soft marker", something to do with his kidneys or something... I freaked out and had an amnio done but everything was OK... so when the cysts popped up in my 20wk with my littlest baby, I didnt worry. They went away before they were born.

  • My son had one, and he is healthy and fine! They saw it at 20 week ultrasound and at 28 weeks it was gone. I was told because of my age and the fact that we had no history of genetic defects there should be no reason to worry. It went away on its own, dont worry, I know its hard. But things will most likely be fine!
