When did you let your LO sleep with a pillow?

My DD is 11 months old, and I started letting her sleep with a pillow in her crib. She sleeps better, it seems. Is this okay? Should I be worried? I'm constantly up checking on her.

  • My daughter is 11 mths and she sleeps with a pillow. Shes been sleeping with for a couple of mths know she loves her pilliow. When she was bornen she sleep with a pillow cause she couldnt roll over then I took it away when she started rolling over. Then when she was about 8 or 9 mths I put it back in with her.

  • My older 2 didn't have one til they were a bit older, a year and a half maybe? Don't remember for sure. But I got them the little travel size ones, and they had a couple of other little special ones. My younger 2 had them a lot sooner - 8 months and 4 months, give or take, again I don't remember for sure.

  • My pediatrician says not to give a pillow until 2 years. My DD is 3 years old and still doesn't use one. We offered her one at 2 and a half years, but it bothers her neck. She prefers to sleep without it.

  • We put a pillow in just before a year. We found them sleeping on top of their teddy bears as a pillow so we figured it was time to give them one. LOL

  • It is okay for your child to sleep with a pillow as long as they can easily roll from front to back and rotate their heads without problem. Usually when they're fully mobile. This will prevent them getting stuck in an awkward position. Your child should be old enough to handle it fine. I am too paranoid to let my child sleep with a pillow, so I haven't tested out that option. Although, if you are comfortable with your child doing it then by all means.

When my kids were young we were told they needed to be able to sit up on their own. But follow what your doctor says. We all know doctors know best. *eyes rolling*
