Im going out for dinner today what should I be getting to eat since Im On a diet.

I m just going to the diner. Wer'e just going to meet up with his mother there and get something to eat.

  • I'd go for lean meats.. chicken or turkey.. mabey tuna... and salad.. lots of salad (damn, *I* want a salad... )... but you know what? Have a cheat day, you're going OUT for dinner! Enjoy yourself! Then tomorrow take a walk or do some situps in the living room and consider it paid for! :D

  • The REALLY important thing is portion control--restaurants serve WAYY too much food! If you get a dish like pasta, don't eat more than half and take the rest home for lunch the next day--two meals for the price of one, right?

    As for menu items...avoid things that are battered, fried, or drowning in sauce (especially sauces that are butter or cream-based). You don't need to automatically go for the salad (the majority of restaurant salads find ways to pile on the calories anyway), but lean meats and vegetables are a good bet.

    When I go out to eat with a friend, one of us orders a salad, the other orders a pasta dish, and we split both plates 50-50.

  • Try to eat half of your entree. Eat a snack before you go so that you are not starving. Stick with protiens. Dont focus on the food....(yeah right! lol) focus on your going out.

  • have a salad before you entree, dressing on the side so you can control it. No cheese on the salad.

    Ask them to bring you a to-go box when they bring your entree. Move half of your food to the box before you even start to eat.

    Grilled, steamed, broiled-- good

    fried-- bad

    baked-- hides calories at times, careful

    no cream sauces, cheese sauces, or butter sauces. Grilled fish is a good bet.

    Skip the beer, soda, tea, cocktail. A soda water with lime might be nice.

  • Salad, NO NO NO dressing, or a turkey sandwich on wheat, with lettuce and tomato, NO mayo, or a bowl of water based, not cream soup. A chicken dish is bad because it's usually covered with some kind of sauce---fried chicken is actually better than a creamy chicken pasta dish. The fat is in the creamy stuff---don't eat creamed---get GRILLED meat, not fried

  • They say downing 2 glasses of water while you're waiting for your meal to arrive helps make you feel full so you'll eat less. And when your meal arrives put half of it right into a doggie bag.
    Do you know that resturants serve portions that are up to NINE times the portion size you should have? Your piece of meat should be the size of a deck of cards. That is one serving. Your potato should be as large as your fist. Those HUGE baked potatoes are 3-4 servings worth!
