How long does a 12 oz can of powdered formula last for an infant around 3 -6 months old?

I am getting ready to have a baby and I plan to breastfeed until I return to work. I'm just wondering how long a regular size can (12 oz powder) of infant formula will feed an infant? 1 week, 2 weeks, ect....

  • look on the side of the can, think 30 oz a day is the average and divide that into how many ounces it makes...some make 90 something oz some make over 100...2-4 days is the max I think for that size can

You DO know you can work and BF too right? And you can Bf when home and FF when away too.

  • For me its between 2-3 days. depending if he wakes up during the night. But i get 10 cans a month through WIC. Oh and just so you know my son is almost 5 months now. And he has 4 8oz bottles a day.

  • I agree with 2-3 days. My niece went through about that much. When my daughter was on formula (the whole 3 weeks we used it) we could possibly stretch it to the end of 3 days, beginning of 4, but that was only if she slept through the night.
