Breaftfeeding and formula question

my baby is almost 2 weeks old and i breastfeed 99% of the time, but sometimes my nipples get so sore that i give her a bottle of formula if i dont have any pumped breastmilk, but everytime i give her formula, it never fails, she throws it all back up. I go to school and sometimes i dont have enough BM stocked back for her to eat and my hubby has to give her formula....has this happened to any of you? what can i do?

  • make sure that is is warm, and that she is getting burped during the feeding and after. :) otherwise, it is only occasionally, so i wouldn't worry!

  • OK. This particular formula goes into the "fail" pile, because it's not working for your baby. If you want to use formula at all you will have to experiment,.

better yet,...let's treat the soreness. Are you sure you have a good latch? Do you have lansinoh? Use after every feeding. Also try breastmilk on the nipples, letting them air dry.

  • Treat your nipples, dump the formula. You can talk to a lactation consultant to make sure you have a good latch. Use lansinoh frequently - after every feeding, after a shower, any other time you feel like it. You don't have wipe it off before baby eats again. If you are in school, you'll want to have a good supply of breastmilk stored so that it's always available - you most likely won't get a lot each time, so try pumping after nursing throughout the day and combine it all at the end of the day.

  • Burp, burp, burp! Mine comes all back up if we don't get ALL the burps out.
