  • BLOCKING WEBSITES

Private Internet providers might need government authorization to block popular websites, it said, or to reduce residential transmission speeds to make way for commerce.

  • How boring would that be!!! I think it would be necessary, like the article says, to keep commerce flowing. But it would be REALLY crappy!

This is all part of network neutrality. You need to read it if you haven't already. The POTUS through this bill can shut the net down if national emergency exists.

  • Ever wonder if the national emergency is going to be the American people rising up against this commie regime and it's just another way for the gov't to silence our voices so people feel alone and isolated and can't reach out and see the millions that DO feel the same way?

  • "Your Prez is a loon."

If only it were so simple.
This prez does not belong to just those who support or voted for him. We all have him. But more importantly we also have all the corrupt officials that are part of the deal and don't change substantially from one term to another.

The prez is a loon, the ex-prez was an idiot, I am seeing a pattern here. Could it be that the prez is just the front man and there is much more going on here than zaniness?

And those who buy into the 2-party system paradigm just maybe are the loons here.
Pity, loons are such nice birds

MustbeGrace--I was under the impression you lived in America too. My mistake obviously. Where do you live and who is your elected political leader?

If you live here, guess what sweetheart, President Obama is your elected president--just because you don't like him or his policies, he is still THE only president of this country so he would be your president too--if you were a legal resident of America.

    Are you here illegally?

  • PsWifey...do you feel powerful? When you talk to people like that? Where are your teacher ethics? He might be the president of the United States right now, just remember not every one voted for him, as per our rights. And further, we all have freedom of speech here, and people have the right to speak out against the government that is corrupt...in case you forgot. And right now we do have the most corrupt president and company we have ever seen so far...so thank you for voting Obama into office. I hope you are proud, as Im sure that you are.

PsWifey, BO is not MY president. He is THE president. I didin't vote for him. It is clear that Grace has more sense than some, such as yourself. She sees his adminstration for the disaster that it is. I suppose the corrupt and morally bankrupt will continue cheer each heinous move he makes.

OP, the net neutrality law is serious. The president should not be able to shut down the internet on a whim. "National Emergency" isn't fully defined in the bill. Heck, we are in a "national emergency" now! Shutting down the internet would bankrupt many businesses and virtually cut off communication to tens of millions.
