crock pot question

ok i was making split pea soup and had it set to low, which didnt cook it enough so then i amped it up to high and everything was bubbleing along nicely, but then it was time for bed. i didnt want to leave it on all night cuz it had already been cooking for like 5 hours, but its not quite finished. its still pretty watery. i put it in the fridge overnight, should i put it back on the crockpot and turn it back up to high to finish it? or is it too late now?

  • Should be ok as long as it didn't have any uncooked meat in it when you started it

  • If it was refrigerated, it can go back into the crock.

  • it'll finish cooking without any problem. in fact, sometimes i pre-prep things like that the day (op two) before, so all i have to do it stick it back on the stove.

  • Sometimes split pea doesn't thicken up very well. Here's a cheat: add in a few spoons of potato flakes (you know, boxed mashed potatoes). Or you can boil a potato and mash it and whip it in.
