Filling out W-4 forms...

I always get mixed up when I do these. Can someone tell me (again) how to fill these out? What do you put when you want more money taken out of your paycheck vs. when you want the money right now in your paycheck?

  • The more exemptions you claim, the less money will be taken out.

The highest tax level you can claim on a W-4 is Single 0; that category gets the most withheld.

  • You can also request to have an additional amount withheld from your paycheck. Many of our employees request an additional 10.00 a week withheld.

  • the higher the number on the form the more money in your paycheck! But remember to adjust this number as you go along through the year so that you won't end up paying a lot at tax time! Ideally you want Uncle Sam to owe you $0 and you to owe $0! It's hard to do but can be done!
