  • A jack-o-lantern is a pumpkin that's been cut and that has a candle (or some kind of light) in it. That's why it's a jack-o-"lantern". =)

  • jack o lantern is carved with a candle which makes it a lantern. A pumpkin is a pie or jack o lantern in waiting (or squirrel food at my house.)
