only taking 4oz at a time

Is it normal for a 5 month old to only take 4 oz at a time. My twins are 5 months old and will not take more than 4oz at a time. They eat every 3-4 hours but if they take in any more they get sick. They only wake once at night and at that feeding were lucky if they take more than 2oz.

They are on baby food but between the 2 of them only eat a stage 2 jar every other day (1/4 jar for lunch per baby so the jar last 2 days)

NOTE: My three yr old never took more than 4oz. At age one when we switched her to milk she started drinking 8 oz

  • My 11 month old has never had more than 4 oz of formula at a time. I breastfed, but when I would supplement we only used 4 oz and when he self weaned at 9 months we just went to 4 oz. After 2 months he never woke up at night to eat. He just ate often enough during the day (every 3 hours) to get his 24 ounces. As long as they are getting at least 24 oz, then when they get them isn't a big deal.
