  • You can introduce soft, mashed solids at 6 months - one at a time with several days in between to check for allergies. Food at this point is for experimenting and practice eating, not nutrition, so baby should still be getting ALL the formula and breastmilk they were getting before. By 10 months they can eat almost everything you do, with the exception of high allergen foods like eggs, nuts, shellfish, strawberries, and citrus. Honey should also be avoided because it can cause infant botulism in children under 1. Just make sure that everything you give them is cut into small pieces and/or mashed. Teeth are not an indicator of when kids can eat - - many kids get their first teeth closer to 1 yr old and eat table food just fine.

  • Our son was about 6 months. We offered one table food at a time to check for any allergies.
By the way, stay away from any citrus or tropical fruits. They can cause a terrible diaper rash!

  • Regular table food like chicken, potatoes, etc. Was about a year when he had the teeth to chew everything. Mashed foods were about 9 months

  • When we introduced solids at around 6.5 months: avocado, baked sweet potato, etc.

  • When they wanted them. If they begged during a meal, we let them try a bit as long as it was appropriate (not hard to chew, not overly spicy, etc). All my kids were eating table food regularly, and no more jarred foods, by 9 months old. Still got formula too, but all food was the same as we ate.

  • 4 months. She was sitting on her daddy's lap during dinner and every time he lifted the fork to his mouth she opened hers. She got what ever soft food we had. Mashed potatoes, tiny bits of cooked carrots, that sort of thing.

  • Six months and they were totally on table foods by 9.

  • Teeth don't matter because they don't chew with teeth until they get their molars anyway. Don't go by when/if they have teeth.
