Do you kick the oven? Am I the only one?

I just made a cake and I realized I have an odd habit/talent. When I want to check if the cake is done, I turn the oven light on, kick the oven, and watch the cake. I can tell when the cake is done by the specific type of jiggle it does. Not only that, I can tell how much more time it needs if it jiggles "wrong." Anyone else do this?

  • I do something similar! When checking my oven, I slightly open the oven door and use a potholder to give the rack a little shake.. I base done-ness on jiggle-bility... LOL.

  • I try to keep the door closed as much as possible to keep the oven temp constant, that's why I give it a kick instead of shaking the rack.
