Any advice for water retention?

  • Cut down on salt, and drink plenty of water--sounds contrary to logic, but drinking more water helps.

  • Too much sugar – Too much sugar intake increases the hormone insulin. Whenever your body has high levels of insulin, it’s difficult to get rid of sodium. Too much sodium makes your body retain water.

    * Lemon juice mixed with water

    * Tomato Juice - (or water) with real lemon

    * Pink grapefruit juice

    * Spices - Anise, peppermint, parsley, ginger and garlic are good sources.

    Dandelion leaves, alfalfa, asparagus, celery and vitamin B6 can all work as natural diuretics as well.

  • Cut back on sodium and animal products. Drink lots of water, eat lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes.
