issues with pre-schoolar after making a big move

Our family just made a long distance move and now my 4 year old son is acting out really bad. Anytime i tell him anything he does the oposite, he doesnt listen at all and he is back talking all the time. He never did this before our move and I am at the end of my rope, Has anyone delt with this before and if so what can i do to make it better?

  • Yup military. With my daughter we tell her every thing a month before and she slowly processes it and handles it relatively well. But that will not help you now. I would keep your normal routine and keep the same house rules. Sit down with him and encourage him to talk about what he is feeling. Take him out to see his new neighborhood See if there are any kids his age. Get his room set up as much like before as possible. It is crazy and stressful for him and he is telling you. Help him to vent in appropriate ways, beat up a pillow or mattress. Go for a good hard run, scream at the top of his lungs. And most important make sure he knows he is safe and loved. And that you are not moving anytime soon.
