  • Wow... I honestly can't remember too well... I'd say 3 or 4 months? I know he was eating solids by 5 months.

  • She was holding her own "bottle" at 20 minutes old when she breastfed for the first time and wrapped her little bitty hands around me to snuggle up. She still does that, at 14 months old, and it is so sweet!!

  • Holding, or putting his hand on? At about 6 months my son would put one hand on his bottle but he NEVER held it himself. When he wanted to hold it, he got a sippy cup and that made him happy. Holding the bottle was mama's or daddy's job.

  • Well i use glass bottles so they are heavy....my son has been grasping the bottles since around 5 months...but id say around 6 months he was able to hold up a bottle, and i have a few plastic bottles I use more now and he can hold those good, but doesnt know to tilt his head back for the last few drops. lol.

  • Anon :31, get off your high horse. Why bother posting a reply that has absolutely nothing to do with the question asked.
Bravo for you for breastfeeding. You get a gold star.
Not everyone can so maybe practice a little empathy instead of arrogance.

My son was almost 5 months when he could hold his bottle by himself.

  • Well I'm breastfeeding, but dd does get bottles occasionally.
She is 8 months old and can hold her own bottle if she is lying flat.
She can't figure out to tip her head back lol
