Whats for breakfast?

Do you know of a good smoothie recipe or drink that doesn't have coffee in it but gives you energy? I'm trying to avoid sports drinks and would like to find out what blended fruits and veggies will give me an early morning kick.

  • I hear the Carnation Instant Breakfast can give you energy, but I'm not a huge fan of it personally. I usually drink some green tea with mint in it. I think bananas are supposed to be good for energy, not sure what else.

  • Ingredients

    * 2 scoops protein powder
    * 2 scoops hemp seeds
    * 8 ounces water
    * 1 ripe banana
    * 1/2 cup frozen strawberry or blueberries or peach
    * 1 tablespoon powdered wheat grass
    * 1 dash vanilla


    Add all ingredients to blender and blend till smooth. Drink up!

  • The Ultimate Breakfast Smoothie!

    * half a Banana
    * four to six frozen strawberries
    * half cup plain yogurt
    * half to one cup orange juice
    * one Tbsp Flax seeds
    * one Tbsp whey protein powder

    In a blender add the banana, strawberries, yogurt, and orange juice. Blend until smooth. Add the flax seeds and whey, blend until evenly distributed. Pour in two glasses and enjoy! Makes 2 smoothies.

    - 1/8 cup peanut butter
    - 1/2 cup soy milk

  • 1 cup vanilla yogurt
    1 cup 2 percent milk
    1 medium banana
    2 tablespoons wheat germs
    2 tablespoons protein powder

  • PB&B Kefir Smoothie
    (You can never go wrong with peanut butter and banana)

    * ¼ c skimmed milk
    * 5 tbsp instant oatmeal
    * 1 tbsp peanut butter
    * 1 pc medium banana
    * ¼ c kefir
    * 1 tbsp flax seed (optional)
    * 1 tbsp cocoa powder (optional for flavoring)

    1. Soak the oatmeal in milk for a few minutes, or until the oatmeal softens.
    2. Mix it together with the other ingredients in a blender.
    3. Blend in 5-8 iced cubes depending on how you like your smoothie.

    This makes 2 serving. You can actually substitute your meals with this smoothie. It’s already complete with fiber and protein.

  • An apple is supposed to give you just as much "wake up" as a cup of coffee. Eat one. You'll get some fiber, vitamins, minerals, good stuff, too.

  • Apples are good, as are all smoothies as long as it's not gonna weigh you down (you drink too much). Way to go on being healthy!!

  • Breakfast smoothie: frozen blueberries, frozen banana, kale (lots of iron and calcium), kiwi or orange juice or another vitamin c source (to increase the absorption of the C), yogurt, ground flax seeds

  • I put any fresh fruit I have in the blender. I add on single serving container of van yougurt and fill up the blender with ice. So good and good for you.
