When should I take my daughter to the dentist? She is 15 months old and has almost a mouthful of teeth and I am unsure when she should be seen by a dentist?

  • She should have gone at age 12 months.

  • At age 1

  • That's what I thought, at 1, but my dentist said they don't see kids until they're 4. I'm still going to take my daughter in to a kid's dentist here soon, but I don't think age 1 is the universal recommendation.

  • Our dentist starts seeing kids at 18 months, and recommends that the first appointment is at 2.

  • The dentists around here don't see the kids until they are 3!!! Call around and see what the age is. if I could find one (need to do some more looking) I would probably take them at 2.

  • DS's dentist said three. Even though they say 1 or even younger, he feels the kid is too scared to really get it and he got tired of being bit and screamed at. Once they are old enough to get it he can work from there. He does suggest getting a fluoride varnish every 6 mos after they get teeth though, but a tech can do that in like 5 min and they usually do it in the waiting room.

  • They go as soon as their first tooth comes in. Trust me - if I didn't take my daughter at 16 months I wouldn't have known about all her dental issues that have already required TWO surgeries, and she's only 3.

My regular dentist doesn't see kids til 4, so we go to a Pediatric dentist.

  • Our pedi told us before age 3. So, my oldest went just before she was 3. We took her to a pediatric dentist who said he recommends starting between 18months and 2 years. So, my little one went just before her second birthday. i don't know if there is a consensus on when they should go. Everyone will give you a different answer.
