What would make a great sleeper turn bad?

My 8 month old who slept through the night since 3 months has all of a sudden gone to waking every 3 hours. He will stay up for 1-2 hours in the middle of the night wanting to play. Our routine has never changed and he has been in his own room/crib since 5 months. Any ideas on what is causing this?

  • Being a baby. **grin** Sleep patterns are purely temporary in year one. They can change them for any reason...and none at all. Just like you and me.

  • Teething, separation anxiety... new milestone? All of the above, none of the above... could be anything.
Keep him in your room/bed so that you can settle him quickly back to sleep. That should help to keep him from fully waking and wanting to play.
