Does an avacado go bad if you don't use it right away?

I know it turns black/brown but can i put it in the fridge and use it tomorrow. Kinda like when you only use half and apple and it goes brown but it's still a good apple?

  • Do you mean one you've already cut? Mash it up with a squirt of lemon or lime juice and seal it in an airtight container. (put it in a ziplock, fill your sink with water, put the bag in the water so the water comes up just below the zipper - the water will force all the air out of the bag like a vacuum sealer - zip it before you pull it out of the water). It should stay green for at least one more day.

  • you could, but they are best kept in dark dry places. depending on how ripe it is you could have 2-3 days, but if softening you need to use it in 24hrs.

  • As long as it is not soft and squishy it should be fine. Normally they are good any where from 2-5 days depending on ripeness. If you get a avocado keeper it can last up to 14 days.
