My 9 month olds crying to get his way

When he was little he had digestive issues, there was nothing we could do outside our Drs advise to comfort him but hold him. So he's "spoiled" as so many of my friends, family and strangers tell me.

Example :
If he doesn't want to be in his stroller and starts whimpering I'll leave him in it but when he turns red starts holding his breath and just loses control, I'll pick him up.

I know some people will let them cry if there's nothing wrong, but I just cant do that, especially out in public. Don't get me wrong, I've tried but he cries until he just falls asleep or passes out from not breathing, so I dont think it teaches him anything since he's unconscisnce when he would be learning his lesson . (I talked to my Dr about holding his breath he told me as long as he doesnt turn blue he's fine) Any advise about how to teach him crying wont get him his way besides cio?

  • I always helped my DD when she cried, I never made her CIO but all parents have to use a different technique, what I did wont work for everyone just like what others do wont work for me. But my DD is a very well adjusted 2 yo, and doesnt cry at all now. I think they just do it when they feel like they need you, and if your child feels they NEED you...you cant just let them cry!
