Does anyone have any thoughts on maternity underwear? I bought some at the motherhood store and I feel like I bought useless expensive underwear. Do they help at all or are they no different than the normal ones you buy from Walmart?

I don't know if it helps, I usually prefer bikini style underwear, and I bought the same in maternity but I feel like they fall off as apposed to my normal underwear. Any thoughts?

  • I've never purchased maternity underwear and this is my 3rd pregnancy. Honestly, I didn't even know there was such a thing til I noticed them the other day at motherhood. I buy Hanes underwear at walmart-I also wear bikini style and they fit great & are SUPER comfy.

  • That's what I generally buy, so that's why I thought I just spent alot of money on something that wasn't all that great, since I still prefer wearing my regular to the new "maternity" ones. Thanks. :-)

  • They aren't any different than any other pair of undies out there. Most underwear already comes in low rise/low cut anyways. It's just another gimmic. I would suggest some cute boy shorts for comfort. They're much cuter than granny panties. I love wearing them while I am pregnant and then I'm back to me thongs post pregnancy. I can't stand full butt underwear usually, sorry TMI! :)

  • I would just buy regular underwear a size or two more which ever it is you need....same style. Or in those boy shorts style?

Here is a link for it :

Kinda useless really how they come up with maternity bras and underwear. I never noticed a difference. ( Unless bra is used for nursing )

  • Well, my belly got bigger but my butt didn't get THAT much bigger. The motherhood bikinis were what I preferred after buying the wal mart hanes in a bigger size. The hanes were all saggy in the butt.

  • I used maternity undies but I had a huge belly every time and a small butt lol. I found later in pregnancy that the maternity undies where more comfy and especially afterwards for the first few weeks. But I was back in my thongs as fast as I could be. My cousin actually found maternity thongs I was never that brave lol.

  • they do help. they stay up A LOT better than going and buying bigger sizes.
did you buy your pre-pregnancy size? everything in motherhood maternity is to your pre-pregnancy size. you usually don't need to go to a bigger size unless you're having twins, and even then that's later on in pregnancy.

  • I just wore lowcut bikini's through my pregnancies. I couldn't tolerate anything up against the belly.
