WORST BOOK EVER.
I'm a writer and this author was not a writer. I HATE this book from the academic/ lit criticism perspective. As a work of literature, it is grueling, un-rightfully pedantic, poorly executed, and ignores EVERY known fact and theory of literary development. If that manuscript were to be put in front of a publisher today, it would NEVER make it beyond page 2. Terrible.
The ideas presented are extremely appealing to many people. Water sharing ritual, development of brotherhood, forging relationships on the psycho-intellectual level of "grokking" another person, force of will being more powerful than modern medicine... Those of us lumped under the "pagan" catch-all can dig it.
I can dig it.
But it's a horrible book. It just has good ideas.
