Top Dems say Obama Won't Get Health Care Bill in 2009

Senior Congressional Democrats told ABC News today it is highly unlikely that a health care reform bill will be completed this year, just a week after President Barack Obama declared he was "absolutely confident" he'll be able to sign one by then.

This may come as an unwelcome surprise for the White House, where officials from the president on down have repeatedly said the health care bill would be signed into law by the end of the year.

"I am absolutely confident that we are going to get health care done by the end of this year, and Nancy Pelosi is just as confident," Obama said Oct. 27 at a fundraiser for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

What do you think? Who is right?

  • Those who actually SUPPORT the Obama/PelosiCare versions of this bill, can you tell me how you feel about the addition of 111 NEW bureaucracies, commissions, and programs created in H.R. 3962?!

    *  Grant program to support the operation of school-based health clinics (Section 2511, p. 1352)

I guess the school nurse will no longer be qualified?

    *  "No Child Left Unimmunized Against Influenza" demonstration grant program (Section 2524, p. 1391)

THIS ought to rile up a few mommas!!!

    *  Personal Care Attendant Workforce Advisory Panel (Section 2589(a)(2), p. 1624)

I believe this is the group that wants to FORCE parents and family members who serve as primary caregivers to their disabled children/dependents to join their UNION!

  • Yeah, let's pass the Republican reform bill so that the uninsured are covered and so that the cost of health insurance goes DOWN. Let's do that and be done with it !

Here's a great article about Medicare fraud ($60 billion), and a comparison of the Deomcrat and Republican bills:

Ohh yea, this was the $30,500/couple fundraiser..  You know where they talk about being just like the average "Joe" in America.. whie they shell out 10's of thousands of dollars..  Sure.. Ok...   I hope it doesn't pass.  Especially without a formal debate. This bill is too expensive and too important to push through without going line by line and debating the details.
