Would you think this wedding meal is tacky?

This is for a late June outdoor wedding on a beautiful ranch in MT. Our budget is very limited so the majority of it will go towards the food. There are about 200 people on the guest list (all family, cant cut it)
I want this to be simple yet classy so heres what I am thinking:
-Kebabs of different kinds (guests can choose steak, shrimp, chicken or all of the above)
-A green salad with all the fixings
-some hot side salads (ideas would be appreciated)
and some sort of veggie or even a potato.

Knowing my family, they will all bring along a side dish.

Any other great ideas?

  • Not tacky! Ur including beef and seafood. Most weddings only offer chicken LOL!

  • That sounds awesome! We had an afternoon wedding and served only cake and lemonade (pre dinner, we were on a budget for reals!)

  • sounds good
veggies I would get that are pretty cheap, in season at that time, and can be made really good are asparagus and maybe even a green bean casserole type of dish

  • thanks...I have a meat loving family so I wanted to include it without making it a full portion (hence the kebabs because they will have veggies on them too.)
its just a matter or prepreparing them safely (we are making the food ourselves) and then the transportation and cooking part.

    Any side dish ideas?

  • Not tacky.
We had no money for ours so we had pigs in a blanket LOL

  • We had an afternoon wedding and didn't serve a meal. There were about 200 family members there. My mom, grandma, and I made a few different salads and different appetizer things that we liked and people could snack on those before we had cake. We had no alcohol there either due to cash restraints.
