weird redness

DS woke up this morning with the upper palm and the knuckles on the back of his hand all read. its a little swollen as well. he is not upset by it, i can squeeze and he doesnt cry or squirm, he's breathing fine, so wth is going on? i also dont see any bug bites around it. its just weird and extremely random. any insight? btw he's 11 months old if that helps.

  • Call the advice nurse of your health plan. DO NOT give him benedryl until they tell you too, some antihistamines are not safe for babies. It does sound like a bug bite, but he could've also like punched the side of the crib while sleeping, or the headboard or something? If he's not complaining that's not surprising, they ususally won't unless it's REALLY painful. They don't understand itching and such sensations like that right now though. Keep an eye on it.

  • got tired of waiting on dr to call back, so they squeezed us in and good thing too. something prob bit/stung him but it ended up causing infection in his lil hand. somewhere between bedtime and this morning. so lil guy has antibiotics and should be better!
