How will I know...??

How will I know the difference between a gas "smile" & a real smile?? My son is constantly gassy & has plenty of looks that most people always think are smiles, but obviously they aren't (he's just barely 3weeks)...but they do look like smiles! So how will I know the difference between those & his first REAL smile??

  • A real smile will be in response to a stimulus of some sort. A kiss or a face you make or being played with... you will be DOING something when he smiles, and that's how you'll know :)

  • It's hard to say to be honest.... I found with my son that his gassy smiles were crooked and one sided but his real smiles were open mouthed and full

  • if he is babbling or cooing at the same time and not being squirmy, then i'd say it is a real smile :)
