crock pot soup

What are some of your family's favorite crock pot soup??

Im looking for something with out onion (we have an allergy in the family) and VERY low sodium.... any suggestions???

  • I would use no-salt-added chicken broth or stock (about 4 quarts and stock is MUCH better), some chopped chicken tenderloins, carrots, celery, some frozen corn kernels, green beans, whatever veggies you like. Cook on high for 4 hours or so, then add in either 1 cup of long grain rice or brown rice, or 2 cups egg noodles, and cook on high for another 20-30 minutes til the rice or noodles is done.

  • Crock Pot All Veggie and Pasta Soup

    4 cups vegetable broth
    1 can (15 oz.) seasoned tomato sauce or tomato juice
    6 medium red potatoes; quartered
    3 large carrots; peeled and diced
    4 celery ribs, trimmed and sliced
    1 cup (dry) small shell pasta or macaroni
    Parmesan cheese, shredded, for garnish

    Combine all ingredients except pasta in a crock pot.

    Cover and cook on LOW heat setting for 8 to 10 hours.

    Twenty minutes before serving, turn crock pot setting to HIGH heat setting. Stir in pasta. Cover; and cook until pasta is tender

  • Pesto Pasta Soup

    1 lb white beans, soaked overnight
    1 potato, diced
    2 carrots, diced
    2 leeks, diced
    2 tomatoes, diced
    1/4 lb green beans, diced
    2 zucchini, diced
    1/4 tsp powdered sage
    1 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp pepper
    2 oz vermicelli

    Pesto Sauce
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    6 basil leaves, minced
    1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    1/2 cup olive oil

    Combine all ingredients except vermicelli and sauce in a slow cooker with 2 quarts water. Cover and cook on high 2 hours. Turn heat to low and cook, covered for 6-8 hours. Add vermicelli, turn on high and cook, covered for 30 minutes. Combine pesto sauce ingredients in food processor, stir into soup and serve.

    We have too many soups to list here but there are some wonderful ones in our forums.  As far as the salt and onions go, just simply not add them to whatever recipe you are preparing.  There are many other spices available like Mrs. Dash to give your meals great flavor.  Hope to see you soon.  Thank you.  Dodie, co administrator
