What if I cant find the Mirena string?

My midwife told me so many things about the Mirena before putting it in. So much that I can barely remember any of it! I remember she told me to check for the string every week, but I dont remember what happens if I cant find it..

So what happens if I cant find the string?


Forgive the "anonymous". My MIL gets on here and this is absolutely none of her business :3

  • I've had the same problem before and sometimes it takes a while to find the string. Sorry for the TMI, but squat down ( like a frog ) and then see if you can feel them. If that doesn't work, you might put in a call to your ob-gyn and see what they say.

  • Well, if you can't find the string, it is possibe that the mirena moved out of place or came out all together. It can happen- but doesn't happen all the time. I have my secone one in now and have never had an issue!
