  • Yes this is what i do to make pasta sauce since im on a low sodium low fat diet:

2 cans of no salt added diced or stewed tomatoes (you can use regular if you don't care about sodium)

    1 tbsp balsamic vinegar

1 tbsp mrs dash italian seasoning

    1/4 cup diced onion

    2 cloves garlic, crushed

    1 tsp olive oil

    dash of worcestershire sauce

    pinch of cumin

drizzle of molasses (like 1/2 tsp)

    pinch of red pepper flakes

Sautee the onion and the garlic in the olive oil. Add in the tomatoes, undrained. Add in the seasonings and molasses/vinegar/worcestershire and let it simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes while you cook the pasta.

  • I canned tomatoes a lot in my pasta dishes. I also add about a half a cup of the pasta water to the canned tomatoes, some chopped fresh basil and parsley, and a few cloves of minced garlic. I even use canned tomatoes with the basil and parsley on top of pizza when I make homemade pizza.
