George W. Bush Visits Fort Hood, Wounded Soldiers

Saturday, November 7, 2009 12:40 PM

FORT HOOD, Texas -- Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, have visited wounded soldiers and their families after the mass shooting at Fort Hood.

The Bushes made their private visit to Fort Hood's Darnall Army Medical Center on Friday night. Bush spokesman David Sherzer said in an e-mail that the couple thanked Fort Hood's military leaders and hospital staff for the "amazing care they are providing."

An Army psychiatrist, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, is accused of killing 13 people and wounding 29 others in a shooting rampage Thursday at a Soldier Readiness Processing Center at Fort Hood. Hasan is hospitalized, under guard.

  • It is because it isn't about them. This is a glaring difference between a public servant and an narcissist. BO even said that the dems need to vote for the health care bill or his administration is finished. So, who is it for - him or us? It isn't for us.

  • The news picked it up today after the people at the hospital talked about it. The Bushes didn't tell the press themselves. They didn't use the visit as some weird photo op.

He's the president, he can go places without the press knowing - they do it all the time to make surprise visits to the troops overseas. (or going to meet with your future secretary of state in private while intentionally lying to the press to send them in the wrong direction)

  • I am not sure why this has turned into a bash on Obama. But, yes it was extremely wonderful of the Bush's to do that in their home state. :)
