1st NuvaRing, no period

I just started NuvaRing last month. Took it out 3 or 4 days ago, but my period hasn't started yet. No chance I'm pregnant. How long does it usually take your period to start when you take it out? It's almost time to put another in! I'm concerned because I was 2 weeks post-op from a lap/D&C when I put the 1st one in, so not having my period could be a problem...

  • sometimes women have no period when they begin a new method of bc. I would call you doc since you have the post-op situation. The hormones go straight to your ovaries instead of circulating fully through your body. this can cause some women to have no period. the nuvaring gave me estrogen poisoning. I just got too much estrogen from it. if you are feeling dizzy, nauseated, or having head aches, then you could be having a reaction to too much estrogen.

  • Well if I have to share my personal life, I said there's no chance I'm pregnant because I'm not having sex

  • Thanks I go for my 6wk post-op appt Tuesday & I will ask about it, I just wanted to know from others' personal experiences how long it took their period to come. Also wondering if I should go ahead & put the next one in if my period still hasn't started...
