How is it?

They had a thing on my local news today saying the Marine Corps is 234 years old today. How is that when the country itself is only 232-233 years old?

  • because they were formed in 1775 to support the 13 colonies in the revolutionary war.

  • Formed in a bar by the Continental Congress in 1775. That's right a bar, Tun Tavern in Philly, Pa.

  • It says in the history that they were disbanned for a time, would that not count against how old they are?

  • They were disbanded because the fight ended, they were still under their oath to the country, hence they existed.
