i have a question about home buying..it seems stupid but if u know this..

we have been thinking about buying a home we looked online and seen a house we would like to see now it has been 2 weeks and i looked online again to get a number and when i scrolled down it said listing statuse..off market..what does that mean? does it mean its been bought? or they decided to take off market for what ever reasons and if so would it go back on? im really new at this ( honestly my dh is better at this )

  • it's either been removed by the seller, sold or conditionally sold.

  • There is nothing in that term that will specify the reason that it is off the market. Basically the seller will keep their cards close to their chest as much as possible. If it is sold there would be a public record of it though at the town.

  • It just means, like the PP said, that the house has been taken off the market by the seller for some reason. Could be it wasn't selling, they weren't getting offers they liked and thye figured they'd take it off till the market picked back up or they just decided not to sell after all... who knows. You can keep checking back to see if it goes back on the market, but my suggestion is to keep looking. You never know what kinda jewel is around the corner. When/if you find one online or even driving by don't go through the sellers realtor either to look at it, make sure you have your own realtor showing you the house and organizing everything for you, so that you make sure you have someone on your side negotiating for you and getting you all the info you need. (we just went through this a few years ago)

  • thank u so much ladies we have seen the house ( u dont want to know lol ) but as it looked eye wise its in great condition just needs paint and some love but again thats just seeing it no inspection yet. and i cant remeber what it said when we first looked up the house active or not i fel for the place and dh finaly decided to try to get a house instead of waiting. ( he waits and waits finally got him to get the ball rolling ) we do know that the house has been on the market for about a year now ( friends and my dh's co worker lives 8 houses down ) so i am hopeing for the best lol. but again thak u ladies really helpful..

  • How exciting! I remember looking for houses and when we seen ours.....I knew it was the one! You should have a realator, ask her or him, or call the realator or company that listed it. Never hurts to ask....GL!

  • Do you remember who the realtor was who had it listed? You can call and tell them you were interested and ask to be notified if it comes back on the market. Since you know people who live around it, find out who the owner is. There is no law that says you can not contact them directly and ask about the property. Bus as suggested, because you really do not know all the ins and out of buying real estate, get your own professional to help and give you advice.
    A realtor or the people at the records office of your local courthouse can help you find out who owns the property. They can also let you know taxes and assessed value.
