why is it when you apply for a job they want to know if you receive foodstamps?

i mean, are people receiving foodstamps more or less likely to get the job? I've just always been curious.

  • They ask because the government provides employers with a tax credit for hiring people so they can get off of assistance. I have applied for minimum wage jobs and higher paying jobs and it was asked about any kind of public assistance. The tax credit is something like $3000-8000 a person.

  • They ask about TANF too.
They report it back to social services.
A girl that worked with me about a year ago lied and said she didn't and then we got forms back when we sent in all her tax info for TANF that she had to sign.

  • why would it matter with a job though?

Because you are making money. That effects your government aid.
Its so people can't get away with telling SS they dont have a job to get more aid.

  • okay...for some reason i was starting to think that jobs were only wanting to hire people that needed assistance. ...and why do they ask if you are between the age of 18 to 24..i'm just curious about all the weird questions.
