  • It depends on the state and the person involved. In the state of CA they no longer pay for dental care for adults.

  • No, they don't pay for braces unless it is a medical problem. They only pay for cleaning and extractions and fillings.

  • Check with your state's office because every state is different on what will and will not be covered. You can also see if there is another program that will help your child obtain braces. I do not believe they will cover an adult at all.
    As far as medical necessity, I believe that is true. Such necessities would include speech delays due to improper alignment and chewing problems due to inability of proper jaw & teeth action.
    I am pretty certain that if there is such a program through your state, then you will have to pay a percentage of the total bill, which the orthodontist should be willing to set up a payment plan with you according to your credit history.
