How do I fix a zipper?

My daughter wore her winter jacket twice before the zipper fell off (or she broke it off). The cleaners want to charge $25 and take 2 weeks. I figure it can be done at home. Any ideas?

  • OH, I can probably fix it, but idk exactly how it's broken. Can you give more detail or maybe post a pic? I've fixed a lot of zippers.

  • I hope that Pnukey can help. What I'd probably try otherwise is to go to a crafts store to match the zipper with one they had for sale, and then replace it myself.

  • You can try to fix it or you can buy a new zipper (like Bmat suggested) and replace the whole thing.
