swaddling problems

my baby hates when i swaddle her, she hates not being able to move her hands, anyone else have this problem? I ask because she is so wiggly she is only 6 weeks old and if she would just stay still she would sleep way more so i thought swaddling would be a good idea but she hates it.

  • Both of mine hated being swaddled. My pediatrician says don't worry about swaddling a baby that isn't comforted by it. This is just a phase that you'll have to get through. She'll stay still enough to sleep well in a couple more weeks.

  • Yes. My daughter always hated to be swaddled. Everyone thought this was the answer to all my problems. "She's cranky? Swaddle her. She won't sleep, swaddle her.' Well, she loathed it so we never did it I did buy an infant positioner for her to sleep in but I don't know if it helped at all.

  • I'm not a fan of swaddling anyway. If she is more comfortable loosely covered, then go for it. She can be warm enough in a one-piece PJ or gown with the closed bottom.

  • I have 3 children, only one of them liked being swaddled. Some babies just don't.

  • My daughter gets swaddled from the armpits down because she sleeps with her hands up around her head. Somehow the nurses at the hospital did it so tightly that she wouldn't get her hands up but as soon as we got home, up went the hands, so after a day or two I didn't even bother trying to get them in there. I feel bad for her, though, because her hands get really cold at night now that the weather has gotten cooler.

  • I never swaddled my kids - it looked so uncomfortable. I kept thinking that I would hate it if someone pinned me down like that.
